Maidstone 4th XV 32 - 34 Sheppey 2nd XV

A hot autumnal afternoon saw Shepey2's visiting Maidstone 4's. The visitors were undermanned due to a late withdrawal and although Maidstone had a full complement of players many were playing out of position and had not played together before.

This unfamiliarity favoured Sheppey in the first half as the visitors took advantage of some large gaps in the home defence to cross the Maidstone line several times. By half time however Maidstone had regained supremacy thanks the efforts of the pack in particular number 8, Josh Pankhurst, who managed to score four tries.

In a high scoring match, Sheppey fought back in the second half to regain the lead. Unfortunately for stones they couldn't overhaul the visitors despite a sterling effort by N Coles, with the forward scoring a good try despite playing out of position at centre.

In the end a narrow defeat for Maidstone but many positives can be taken from the performance.
