Maidstone were very unfortunate to lose this fixture in their first encounter with a Kent team this season.
The stones started well and very much in control with their pack making good ground and winning both their own and opposition ball. Their reward was not long coming and a powerful maul near the Dartfordians try-line resulted in a try for Maidstone flanker Brett Scott. Dartfordians then levelled the score against the run of play.
Maidstone started the second half the stronger team and took the lead through touch down by flanker Brett Scott. Dartfordians came back hard and soon equalised. Maidstone sustained a period of pressure in their own 22 and Dartfordians persistence paid off with a game winning try in the dying seconds.
A fine performance by both teams in a thoroughly entertaining game – well done to both teams! |
