Old Elthamians 14-26 Maidstone
Maidstone travelled to Old Elthamians with injuries to three players. A shuffle around saw Tom Sloan in the second row, Tom Matney as Scrum Half and Robin McIlwraith on the wing. Callum Carroll started his first game as tight head since leaving Aylesford last week. James Corbyn moved to inside centre and Frazer Clucas moved to full back.
The game started fast and furious and both packs fought to out better the other. James Corbyn broke down the wing and scored. Sam Ellis added the extras.
A break from a scrum saw Old Elthamians level the score to 7-7. The Stones started to dominate and the forwards in particular tore apart the defence with furious rucking from Sam Weston and Brett Scott. Tom Griffin received a pass from James Corbyn and scored a fine try, once again with Ellis slotting the extras. After some hard play, Ryan MacDonald broke down the wing, out past the defence and scored under the posts, Ellis kicked the extra points.
Half Time: Old Elthamians 7-21 Maidstone.
The second half saw Old Elthamians come out and put up a good resistance against Maidstone. Corbyn broke and scored again, directly down the wing. Old Elthamians intercepted a pass, allowing them to score and convert.
Final Score: Old Elthamians 14-26 Maidstone.
The Stones gave debuts to Chris Richer-Smith and John Zhang and showed no signs of weakness as replacements. They came on and proved we have depth in the squad.
