09/09/06 - Under 14's vs Canterbury
Maidstone travelled to Canterbury on a warm day to play in 2 development games. One of which was 15-a-side, and the other of 12-a-side to prepare for a tournament.
Maidstone XV included 2 players marking their debut, Olly Newton & Josh Hazelwood.
Maidstone started brightly and played with pace and skill, and were constantly attacking the Canterbury line when a quick break from the backs resulted in a try for No. 8 George Child.
After the restart full-back James Corbyn touched down and Sam Ellis added the extras.
Canterbury struck back and scored a converted try. Maidstone then hit back with a superb try from outside-centre Tom Griffin, who left tacklers in his path.

After a short break, both sides put out a 12-a-side team. From the start, again the stones scored through new boy Olly Newton, impressing throughout his debut. Sam Ellis slotted in the extras, and after a period of Canterbury pressure Maidstone conceded and a penalty try.
The Stones stepped up a gear and Tom Griffin scored a solo try of sheer class. With the clock ticking down, Brett Scott burst through the forwards onto a loose ball to sprint to the try line. Canterbury scored the final try of the match.

Overall the boys played fantastically and deserved the result. Summer training and a new desire within the squad to battle and take teams on was evident. All players within the squad deserve a mention, with every single one playing well!
