Blackheath 24-5 Maidstone

On a gusty Sunday morning Maidstone travelled to SE 7 to face a tough encounter against Blackheath. From the start the Stones fought nail and tooth and the game looked evenly matched until the Blackheath no.9 broke from the loose to open the scoring. The Stones fought for every inch of the field and moved the play up the park and with the Stones pack on the move, Josh Hazelwood scored a well-deserved equalizing try to bring the scores level at half time.

The second half started like the first with plenty of hard tackling and rucking from both sides, which saw neither side take the lead.
Blackheath’s attacks became more frequent and their pressure on the Stone’s defence showed as they scored 3 fine tries, converting two.

This was Maidstone’s finest game to date and the final score does not show any justice. To their credit, Blackheath are at the moment, the best rugby U14’s side in the South East and the Stones can take pride in their play.

Weston (Capt.), Sey, Kalete, Haw, Heinz, Hazelwood, Lonergan, Child, Elus, Clucas, MacDonald, Scott, Griffin, Newton, Corbyn.
