Match Report 1st October 2006
Maidstone Under 16’s - 46
Dover Under 16’s - 5
Maidstone Under 16’s started the season with a solid all round performance, intent on continuing the successes from the end of last season.
Initially, Maidstone were put under a lot of pressure from a lively Dover team, and had to defend their line for the opening ten minutes. Maidstone settled down and slowly edged their way back up the pitch, eventually allowing Parbutt to break through the Dover defence and to score under the posts. Dover responded by attacking from the restart and crossed the Maidstone line to level the score at 5 – 5. Maidstone came back to score before the interval to take the lead.
After half time the dominance of the Maidstone pack started to wear down the Dover defence, and Maidstone extended their lead on a regular basis with tries from both the threequarters and the forwards. Tries from Mallett, Starks and Nicholson, accompanied by conversions from Francis and Taylor, gave the final scoreline of 46 – 5 to Maidstone.
