Season 2009/10

Welcome to the newly named London 1 South league. This season sees the league expanding to 14 teams, meaning we’ll play an additional 4 league fixtures. We welcome Chichester, Old Elthamians, Wimbledon and local rivals, Aylesford Bulls, to the league, having lost Basingstoke and Dorking with their well-deserved promotions.

Having joined Maidstone as an under 12 player, it is both an honour and a privilege to now lead the First team, and I certainly hope I do the job justice. Last season was a very tough season, but with no threat of relegation it allowed us to introduce many young, talented players giving them first hand experience of competitive league rugby. These experiences will put them in good stead for the upcoming season, giving us a bigger, stronger pool of players to call upon.

I am very much looking forward to the season, and hope to see as many of you as possible cheering on the team from the touchline, and sharing a beer with you in the clubhouse celebrating Maidstone’s victories.

Cheers,

Mark Ryan

(Editors note: Photo of Mark to follow asap, but rest assured that he's younger, better looking and much better endowed, especially in the hair department than the previous incumbent, who remains pictured above in the interim) (Now where's that tenner he promised me?)
