London League 2 South     Maidstone 11  Wimbledon 20

This is one of the games Maidstone will prefer to forget! After honours even at half time Maidstone were looking well set to score more points. Sadly this was not to be.
Penalties were awarded aplenty against both teams but inspite of this both kickers were unsuccessful.After half an hour there was only one apiece over the sticks.
Maidstone were at last however  beginning to take control of the scrums with 2  taken against the head. Finally with a clean take by ‘Mercurial’ Mathews at the line out a rolling maul was set up and crabbed it’s way to the line with nr 8 Alex Smith getting the touch down.Whitehead just shaved the posts on the wrong side. Immediately afterwards flying wimbledon winger Berger was allowed to gather pace in breaking tackles to score at the corner.Maidstone had more chances before the break to score but errors and options caused the breakdown.
Maidstone came at Wimbledon full on at the start of the second half and were camped on the line for a full 7 minutes. Unfortunately they only came away with a Whitehead drop goal for their pains This was  to be their last score of the match.
The visitors increased the weight of their already large pack and this proved to be the springboard for further damage.First Pyes broke through more tackles to score in the corner and an even more audacious passage of play  saw Berger get the touch down for his second try.With 10 minutes to go the game was not over by any way and Maidstone had the opportunity to get near to the line but the error count was getting worse. Wimbledon continually  pressed the home side line,and but for some tenacious defence the score line could have been higher.
Maidstone will need to look at the video of this match and learn before their next league match this Saturday away against high flying Thanet Wanderers  KO 2.30
