Now in their 24th season, the Veterans XV continue to be a thriving force in defying that old adage to “grow old gracefully”. With arguably the largest playing squad that continues to attract players who are either looking to extend their playing days away from the pressure of league rugby; or resurrecting their playing careers having been spurred by their children’s involvement in the sport. Of course, there are the odd one or two whose brain is just not registering what their body's been telling them for years. Whatever the reason, the Veterans XV provides the opportunity to play competitive social rugby in a traditional Corinthian atmosphere of great camaraderie. Was Rugby ever thus?

The side has on occasion stood in for both the Extra A and B teams in league games and has also “lent” players to other teams and still been able to field a full 15 plus reserves. This seasons campaign commences with the side travelling to Ashford to defend the trophy won last year.

This however, is history and the game that matters is always the next one. We look forward to the coming season with the same level of hope and anticipation as we did when we were all much younger, and for some that is much further in the past than for others!!

Maintaining that great annual rugby tradition “The Tour”; work is already in hand assembling our end of season finale with skipper Glyn Richards working on the best way to convince the team of the pleasures to be found on the other side of "Offa's Dyke".
