The eagerly awaited clash with last years Kent champions was a cracker.
From the start, hard physical tackling and rucking saw neither team breakdown the others defence. After 10 minutes, Blackheath changed tactics and were kicking for territory and scored 2 unconverted tries 15 minutes into the game.
Maidstone dug deep and was awarded a penalty as Blackheath as constantly handled in the rucks. Sam Ellis kicked perfectly and at half time the score was 10-3 to Blackheath.
The second half started much like the first and Maidstone were awarded a penalty for hands in the ruck again. Sam Ellis again kicking the vital 3 points, with the scores being 10-6 the scene was set for a last 15 minutes as the stones pushed for the winning points. Pressure put on the defence gave Maidstone a scrum and scrum half Ollie Newton drone the defence and score Ellis on top form kicking the extra two.
With the score 13-10 to Maidstone the game physically heated up and the last 5 minutes saw the stones repel Blackheath to record their first win over the South London team, the boys played exceptional and man of the match was George Child.
