Hi Guys,

Welcome to the 2013-14 season.

It is my honour to take over the captaincy of the 3^rd XV this year and build on the success of my predecessor, Dave Tugwell. I’d like to thank Dave for his leadership as last season Dave led us to the league runners up spot and this year I’d like to go one step further.

Having played rugby at a very high level in my youth, and also at all levels of this great club, to be asked to captain the fantastic players in the 3^rd XV squad was truly a great moment for me personally.

The 3^rd XV is often used as a platform where rising stars can ply their trade with more experienced club members, develop their talent and push for places in the top two teams.

From the squad, I expect a 100% commitment level to the club and your team mates. Playing for your shirt is an ethos that I have had ingrained into me since I started playing the game and it is a belief that I hold most strongly.

My commitment to you is that I will serve you as captain to the best of my ability, help develop players, and ensure that those players with personal aspirations of playing higher up the club have the opportunity, by bringing them to the attention of the club coaches as well as the 1^st and 2^nd team captains.

Putting out a strong team week after week is vital to maintain success. If you state that you are available to play at the weekend, I expect that to be the case.  If situations change, it is imperative that you let me know as soon as possible so that I can keep a balanced team.

Above all though rugby is a game we all love to play. Let’s enjoy the game on the pitch and a beer in the bar after – and remember we are one club!!
