The Maidstone U11s squad numbers over 20 players – we have a great track record of success, as winners of the the Kent U8’s Plate competition in 07/08, runners up in the U9s Plate in 08/09, and winners of the Bowl at both the Beccs and Aylesford Festivals in 09/10. We have 5 coaches (all of whom are CRB checked, 2 of whom are Level 1 RFU Coaches), 3 ELRA qualified referees and a great bunch of wildly supportive parents. In addition we have started arranging guest coaches to teach specific skills, something that has gone down very well with the squad indeed.

2010/11 is an exciting season for us as we continue to develop new skills and add more players to the pitch. Kicking is now part of the game; we have a Full Back and a 5-man scrum / 4-man line-out with the addition of a 2nd Row. This is our 3rd season of full contact rugby - these changes are yet another big step towards 15-a-side rugby in 2 years time, and one that the coaching team take very seriously. All of our training sessions are carefully planned to ensure that the children practice core contact skills and broaden their ability in a safe, controlled environment that is tailored to individual requirements where necessary, and most importantly is a lot of fun to be a part of.

You can see when we are training at home on the Minis fixture list on the website. Training starts promptly at 10am and lasts 2 hours on a Sunday morning; fixtures consist of joint training sessions and a match or two, and start at the same time. We’re either at the Club itself, or on the pitches behind Mote Park Leisure Centre. So, if you (or your child) are going to turn 11 after the 1st September 2010 and want to have a bash at the greatest sport on the planet, then get in touch with Allan Crosbie. All new players are welcome, and you can of course have a go before you decide to stay on.
