Welcome to the Maidstone Rugby Youth Section
Maidstone FC has a very proud history of success in the Youth Section, and this is due to the number of friendly, dedicated coaches and enthusiastic parents, which allow us to offer a tremendous launch into the world of rugby.
If your son or daughter has shown an interest in playing or ‘to just have a go’, we at Maidstone Rugby Club, would be very pleased to introduce them to the fantastic club sport which is English Rugby. The club has a mixture of both British and foreign born coaches (all RFU Level 1 approved), and players, offering your child the best possible entry into the game, at all levels. Rugby, for the ‘Under 9’s’ and below (Minis), is a non contact sport and thanks to our partnership with The Golden Boot is growing in popularity at the club under its own brand as Maidstone Tag Rugby. The sport is structured under RFU guidelines enabling a supervised and controlled progression through the age groups from tag rugby at mini level through a series of incrementally staged developments in junior rugby towards the full tackling 15 a side game at youth rugby level.
Unlike many clubs, Maidstone has an active policy of promoting “home grown” talent and a large proportion of our senior squad players started their playing careers as youngsters in the mini age groups. A number of other players have progressed beyond Maidstone and are playing their senior rugby at a higher level in the national leagues, most notably Danny Caprice who is with the England 7s squad; as always we wish them well and look forward to seeing them return one day, to again don the familiar red & white shirts of the county town club.
