Maidstone 4th 0
East Peckham 45
Maidstone arrived with a strong team, albeit a new look team to take on last seasons' league winners. However , a lack of continuity, organisation, some poor tackling and decision making presented East Peckham with an opportunity to kick start their own league campaign as Maidstone went down heavily. Maidstone again contested well up front, winning our fair share of ball. However we rarely had a firm platform from which we could launch attacks, with line breaks coming from broken play rather than structured moves. Again, our defences were broken far too easily. Maidstone were 3 tries down at half time, but the game was there for the taking, yet it was EP who scored first in the second half followed by a number of breakaway tries coming from their free running back line. We have now experienced 3 losses in a row, 2 against the top notch league opposition and the other was the friendly against Sheppey. In each game we have seen some real positives, but we are struggling to put phases of play together and build on anything good that we create during a game. We have been promoted to a higher division but we are competing well, and are 1 pass, a better decision or 1 player standing out from the crowd to get us back on the winning way. I look forward to Saturday where we will get a chance to show some cohesiveness and right the wrongs of the last 3 weeks. A good start will be to field a settled team, fingers crossed for Tuesday!
