Home vs Lordswood Vets
Maidstone Vets 40 – Lordswood Vets 0
After a deserved loss against Cranbrook and a not so deserved defeat to Footscary the Vets recorded their first win of the season with an excellent performance against Lordswood. Tries from Vincent (2), Pete Gray, Newman and Weston, all converted by Coomber, saw the vets lead at half time 35-0. The team could have done without the half time break as all facets of their game were working well. With the game effectively won the goal for the second period was to aim for a shut out whilst continuing a repeat of the first half performance. The former was achieved, however due to a lack of continuity and energy the latter was not, with only a solitary McKay try (this being unconverted) recorded. At the final whistle a 40-0 victory was achieved and the team can take the confidence gained here into their upcoming fixtures . Thanks go to guest players; club sponsor Simon Wright, former club coach John Whitehead and dream teamers Mark Fish and Richard Grey for their contributions to the game and the beer fund afterwards.
