Very brief summary this week, owing to a trip abroad..

Congratulations to Aylesford on what must be their first ever win over Maidstone in a competitive fixture. Both clubs are now relegated but local bragging rights are now residing in the Aylesford camp - apart from at  2nd team level, where our 3rds handed out another resounding beating.

Mustangs vs Canterbury, snowed off.

3rds vs Aylesford II was a good win. Will publish a match report later in the week if one becomes available. (photos are on the gallery)

4ths vs TJ IV was a very close contest for 1st 20 mins until they scored. After that it was one way traffic.  A number of Maidstone players played very well but the sum of the parts was not good enough to cope with the team-work of TJs.

Hastings told me on saturday morning that their ground was unplayable, but the two skippers had other ideas and so 15 brave souls set off.  Maidstone finished the game with 12 players but actually scored whilst down to that number.  Hastings were just delighted to get a game, as so many teams cry off rather than make the journey. A very creditable effort from the 5s, who gained an extra bonus point for finishing within 10 points of their oppo (who had 7 subs at their disposal). Colin Frost got the try.

The Vets scored first against Canterbury 5ths by getting the ball out wide to a 17 year old Vet who manages to sneak in to the side when no-one is looking. This ploy was so successful, that they never gave him the ball again and Canterbury then scored 49 unanswered points.   They didnt however, seem particularly down-hearted in the bar afterwards. After all, its only a game.

Fixtures

Ashford have disbanded their 4th team, so our Vets are on the fixture exchange once again for next week.
