Welcome to Maidstone F.C, the rugby club at the heart of Kent’s County Town.
Formed in 1880, the club is amongst the oldest in the country and has for many years played its rugby at the picturesque Mote Cricket Ground, adjacent to Mote Park and the Mote Leisure Centre.
We run run 3 senior men’s sides every Saturday (4 on occasions) during the season and with a highly successful Youth and Minis section running sides from U18’s down to U7’s on Sundays, the club has a successful playing structure and membership of over 500.
The 1st XV are amongst the top tier of Kent based clubs and play league rugby in London 3(S) (National Level 8). The club has enjoyed successful campaigns previously in London 2(SE) as unbeaten champions in the 2012/13 season, then followed up by taking the Runners Up spot in London 2(SE) in the 2013-14 season, but narrowly losing the promotion playoff. Additionally the side were London regional Senior Vase champions in 2012 and 2013, reaching the national semi-finals on both occasions.
The 2014/15 season was perhaps the club's most successful in recent times as the 1st XV posted their second unbeaten league campaign in three seasons, finishing as champions of London 2(SE); in the cup competitions they were London & SE Divisional winners of the Intermediate Cup, going on to take the RFU national title with a scintillating performance at Twickenham to lift the trophy.
The club's 2nd XV (Mustangs) have been resurgent and won the Kent Premier 2 East League in 2017/18.
As well as 3 men’s teams playing league rugby, we are one of very few clubs in Kent that put out a genuine social Veterans side every week. In the past the club competed in the regional Evergreen Cup , having been runners up ion four occasions and lifting the Plate title in 2014, they now compete in Kent's Spitfire Golden Oldies Trophy, winning the cup in its inaugural season in 2015.
At Youth level, amongst many honours we were Kent County Champions at U18 level in 2005/6 and again in 2007/8. The club has a strong youth development policy and as a result a significant number of young players have made the step up to senior rugby, several of whom have shown the ability to play regularly for the 1st team in the past 3 seasons. Amongst them, some have gone on to make an impact at Aviva Premiership, RaboDirect Pro 12, National League and International level. Currently one of the club's former players is now plying their trade with Northampton Saints.
The integration of youth players into the senior sides has helped the club to 2 successive County Seven's finals in recent seasons, capturing the Cornwallis Cup for 2006/7.
Whilst we are always keen to recruit players who can enhance the 1st team squad, all new players are very welcome at the club, whatever their age, level of experience, ability or aspirations. Click on the link for more details.
